Poppy

I found this photo in Star Magazine; the caption of the photograph is as follows:

"Sandra Bullock, 41, is a mom already! Sandy and her new husband Jesse James, 36, paid $200 to adopt this three-legged Chihuahua mix, Poppy, from Best Buddies Rescue staff in Long Beach, California, on Saturday, September 10th, 2005."

UPDATE:

Sandra, 3-legged Poppy and 2-legged Ruby
were spotted again Friday April 10th, 2009!

Nemo

We just adopted Nemo yesterday (9/12/25). He is a 11 week old German Shepherd who was born without one front leg and the other paw is misshapen. He was rescued from a breeder by Helping Hands of Newberry FL. We have a four year old female GSD now, but when I saw him I had to give the little guy a home. He is clumsy and falls a lot, but I am hoping he will get better as he grows with a good diet and supplements. He breaks my heart every time he falls, but I keep reminding myself he thinks he is normal and he seems very happy and playful. I love your web site and am learning a lot, Thanks

Update:

Hi Cynthia, I enclosed another pic that helps show his paw, he basically has two toes, one is like double size with 2 nails, the other toe has one, and a dew claw. It is not really what I would call side ways, I think (hope) he is just in that clumsy puppy stage. He also uses the whole back of his back legs a lot, kind of like a kangaroo. I am glad to hear yours swims, he can't get wet due to Mitaban treatment until Friday, so we will try it then. We got him a vest today, and hope to take him on our boat and pool soon. I was just not sure if he would be able to paddle, straight? If you have any potty training tips for a three-legger I would welcome them, its hard to tell when he is about to go due to his stance. Thanks so much for your advice and support,

Update:

Good advice, thanks. Mitaban is a dip treatment for demadex, common in puppies. We took him out on our boat this weekend, he did great and had his first romp on the beach and in the Gulf of Mexico, he took to swimming like a natural, I kept one hand on him to be safe. He goes to our vet Thurs for his next shots and to get checked out by him. He has gotten a little better at walking/hopping. Have you ever tried the doggie boots for traction and pad protection? I enclosed some pics, thanks again, Doug
