Joey

Hello There,
This is Joey!

He is 3 years old and we have had him since he was a puppy.
He is a wonderful Boxer, so full of energy
and great with my 1 year old daughter.
He is our buddy and we don't know what we'd do without him.

3 weeks ago Joey went out in the backyard to go potty
and found the spot where the recent hurricane
had blown down a part of our fence and ran through it after a squirrel.

By the time we caught up to him he had ran into the road and was hit by a car. We rushed him to the vet and we were told him back leg had a really bad break in it and we were referred to a specialist.
He told us he could fix it,
and we waited for the call after the surgery to tell us he was ok.

Well, the call came and the vet told us
that the bone was in too many pieces and could not save the leg.

I was devastated and didn't know what to expect,
but I was so thankful that he hadn't died.

I found this website right after, and it helped me cope
and realize that he would still be the same dog.

He took a few days to get used to only 3 legs,
but now he's exactly the same dog he was before just short one leg.

I am so grateful for this website
and hope that our story helps someone else.

Thank you very much.

MacLeod

Hi Cynthia,
Our guy MacLeod is a corgi(?)pug mix.
As soon as my wife saw his picture and heard his story,
she said "That guy needs a home."

We're not quite sure where MacLeod came from.
We picked him up at Canine Angels in La Porte Indiana.
The girls weren't quite sure how he wound up losing his leg,
and when they got him he was a mess.
Infected from flea bites and severely malnourished.
He was missing all the hair from around his neck,
and was a nervous wreck, on top of it all.
When I drove out to pick MacLeod up, he hid his face.
On the ride home, he laid on the floor and slept for 2 hours.

Today...
MacLeod is the king of the castle.
He's got such a positive attitude about life.
His tail is always wagging and he's always on the lookout for a treat now and then.

This guy really rounded out our family well
and you can tell he enjoys being where he is today......
Under the table, mooching food!

MacLeod's been with us here in Chicago for about a year and a half. He's named after Donald MacLeod,
a very famous (and very short) bagpiper from Scotland.
He's just the coolest little guy.
Thanks, and keep up the good work you do for our guys.
