Hi! My name's Cassie, too (Cassandra)! In December of 1997 I was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in my right rear leg. That was a very tough time for all of us, but if only we'd had a crystal ball to look into the future, we would have handled it better! I had my rear leg amputated right away after the diagnosis to get that bad stuff out of my body, and shortly afterward I had chemo treatments. My owners still can't believe it, but the day after the amputation, I was strolling around the back yard. In the first week, I could already take walks around the block. I'm not saying it was all easy. It took me a little while to get my strength back and to completely regain my balance. But pretty soon my life got back to being great. I go on a 3 mile run every day through the mountains behind my house, and I play with my toys from dawn til dusk, happy as a clam. In fact, about the biggest difference in life as a 3-legged dog is that I need more of a headstart to jump up onto the couch, which isn't too bad. Thanks Cynthia!
